Carl has clocked up more than a few decades of tax experience, starting his career with Inland Revenue in 1979. He took up a position as a tax specialist with a leading Waikato accounting firm in 2002 which later merged with Price Waterhouse Coopers in 2007. Carl left PWC in December 2008 to set up Brandt Segedin LP together with Julie Segedin.
Carl has particularly strong technical and analytical skills - some might say a typical tax geek - yet he is able to demystify the complex areas of tax law and find effective solutions for the very wide range of clients and businesses he gives advice to.
In Carl's view there is no question too small , nor is there such a thing as a dumb question in tax. Carl enjoys providing tax effective and accurate advice to the firm's client base made up primarily of other accounting firms in New Zealand, but not limited to this.
Carl is married to Antoinette and has four children. He still enjoys getting out for a lunch time run and at home he loves music (has most of Mark Knopfler's CD's), enjoys trying to keep his guitar skills going although now being outflanked by his sons.
