Prior to starting Brandt Segedin with Carl in late 2008 ,Julie was a Tax Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers Hamilton office , formally Beattie Rickman. In these roles Julie provided taxation advice to the firm's clients, other accountants and corporate tax clients covering all manner of tax issues - large and small.
In a former life (early 1980's), Julie was employed by the Inland Revenue Department in their investigation unit, for the last seven years as a senior investigator that included investigations into the tax affairs of medium sized businesses through to multinational corporations and SOEs. Being a "gamekeeper turned poacher" enables Julie to provide valuable assistance with tax audits and disputes.
Julie also has particular expertise providing practical and innovative solutions for tax puzzles, in particular those facing family owned businesses.
Julie has presented a number of taxation courses for the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, both nationally and at branch level. She has also lectured at Waikato University and is a resigned fellow of NZICA.
Julie is addicted to bending her brain with all types of puzzles and for a real thrill she recommends "Evil Sudukos". Other than that, most weekends find her head down and bum up in the garden - weather permitting of course!
